Summary
Shadowsingers are made, not born. It's a simple recipe, really: isolation, neglect, and prolonged time spent in pitch-black darkness, making the subject so lonely that they begin to understand the shadows around them. But just because it is simple doesn’t mean it's easy.
After all the time spent in the dark, most subjects go insane when the shadows begin talking back, most don’t survive.
That is why for the past 538 years, Azriel has been the only known Shadowsinger on Prythian. That is why the course of the Spymaster's life changes forever with the opening of one cell door.
