Summary
"Though—and I know you probably don't want to talk about it, but since you and Natalia are over with now, I've been wondering…" Maddie pauses, watches Buck make a face like he's bracing to be smacked. "What happened with Eddie?"
Buck stops wincing and just blinks at her for a second. Then he says, "What?"
"You two were dancing around it for so long, and then… what, it just didn't work out? Was the date really that bad?"
She's expecting another wince, or even for him to duck out of the conversation entirely, but instead Buck is staring at her like she's grown a second head. "Maddie. I've never been on a date with Eddie."

Or: the poker game was a date. It takes Buck a while to catch on, though.

In which Steve, because he's an overachiever like that, goes big and goes home.
Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
“Do you have children?” Mrs. Kehr asks pointedly, like an argument. Like she knows this is where she’s going to catch him out.
And Steve is done. Or no, in fact, he’s so far past done someone’s going to have to scrape off the burnt edges after this, but he is still simmering with rage over the thought that anyone could bear to treat their own kids this way, so he says, “Yes.”
Or: A canon compliant rewrite of that scene in 9.14 of Steve vs. the homophobic parents.

Summary
Chris continues to chatter in Eddie’s ear, and Eddie half listens as Buck goes up to Margaret and hands her the tape measurer he’d been holding. She stares at him with one tape measurer in each hand now, eyebrows drawn in confusion as he smiles and waves goodbye at her.
“See you later!” Buck calls as he exits the loft with Chris.
Eddie is only a few feet behind, but he looks at her, gives her a polite but fake smile, and says, “See you later, Maggie!” as he closes the door. He only catches the first half of her spluttering and protest of the name as the door shuts behind him.
--
Or, Eddie finds out Margaret Buckley wants to buy Buck a couch and thinks, fuck that. -

Scotland, at long last, qualifies for the World Cup. Jimmy and Duncan, at long last, figure some things out.
