Watching the single orange ember’s light dim, until it had turned to ash, had solidified a decision in Wei Ying’s mind.

Summary
Wei Wuxian quietly plucks Lan Wangji’s hand from the air, setting it gently on his stomach, just as he leans over and grabs another bite.
“Wei Ying? Is your stomach hurting?” Lan Wangji presses his hand gently on Wei Wuxian’s stomach. “Did you get medicine?”
Wei Wuxian sets his chopsticks down. “Don’t press too hard, Lan Zhan.” He murmurs, kissing Lan Wangji’s forehead. “You’ll squish our baby.”
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Wei Wuxian felt a rush of relief. He isn’t carrying the secret alone anymore.
Lan Wangji is staring at Wei Wuxian with his mouth agape. Wei Wuxian had never even seen his husband’s jaw drop, even when he had revealed that he gave his golden core away.
“Our…” Lan Wangji trails off, quietly rubbing Wei Wuxian’s stomach.
“Mhm.” Wei Wuxian smiles, setting his chopsticks down. “Our baby, Lan Zhan.”

“Wei Ying.”
It was as if said male got snapped out of his deepest thoughts, the light frown on his face immediately disappearing and getting replaced by an innocent, silly smile at the sight of his husband.
But Lan Wangji knew his husband long enough by now that he could tell easily that something was off.
“It's time, isn't it?”
The alpha took a step closer to his mate and carefully knelt down in front of him, his hand coming to rest on Wei Wuxian's swollen belly he had caressed so tenderly earlier.
It wasn't that the omega didn't usually touch his baby bump, in fact it had become such an instinctive, subconscious behavior to constantly cradle or rub his belly ever since they had found out that he was expecting. But the way he did it today seemed different.
“Time for what? We just had lunch if you mean that, Lan Zhan.”
The omega tilted his head softly as he placed his hand instinctively over his husband's on his belly, his eyes turning into crescents as he grinned.
“Wei Ying is in labor.”
