Hermione has allowed her spark to be suffocated to fit her husband’s mold as the meekly submissive housewife covering for his benders, his drunken faux pas, and his verbal treatment of herself until the day she sees a flat available for the year at a price that practically matches the amount still left in her old personal vault (and boy, was it strange to use the name “Hermione Granger” again after being “the other Mrs. Weasley” for so many years now!). This story begins the following morning.
“ “They’re saying permanent damage, Mione. She’ll probably be in the Janus Thickey ward for the rest of her life, in addition to the disfigurement. That’s not the actions of a hero for the light! Why can’t you be more like Ginny? She only used stunners and disarming spells against actual Death Eaters and still managed to come out of the battle unscathed. Summary
The story starts when Elizabeth and Maria are staying at the Parsonage at Hunsford. It diverges from canon when Elizabeth receives a package from her father - a copy of the new novel Sense and Sensibility. They start reading it together and this leads to insights into characters and events which had previously been misunderstood. This prevents Darcy making a disastrous proposal in Kent. The pathway is slightly different but they will get their happy ending.
Be aware that there are major plot spoilers for Sense and Sensibility if you have not already read this!
