    Since when had he and Matsumura reached the point of being friends? That was the question that haunted his mind, like an emperor who ruled with an iron fist, as he sat in Matsumura's home, watching an audiovisual production he was a fan of. How had he not realized it before?

    Nakamura believed he had never comprehended the meaning of friendship, until he met Matsumura.

    The crowd reacted instantly. Almost, as if he could hear the cheers from his classmates and the sound of camera clicking, trying to capture the moment.

    But Nakamura barely moved.

    He was still turned slightly toward Matsumura.

    The world above them had begun to burn, but he couldn’t quite pull his attention away from what was closer.

    Matsumura’s face flickered under the shifting light—gold, then white, then a fading red that softened the lines of his expression.

    The leading executives hold an emergency meeting, and unanimously make a decision that benefits their safety above all, at the detriment of half the hero registry.

    Genos would argue that his suffering was unquantifiably highest.
