Paul can feel himself hyperventilating, mind spinning from the sheer implications of everything he has just heard.
“The Reverent Mother instructed me explicitly. We were to let him touch you. It was a curious sight, the way he held you, almost despite himself…so incongruously gentle for such a brutal creature.” She nearly smiles and Paul shakes with the sudden urge to snarl in her face. “Your fever broke. You settled calm for the first time in weeks.”

Jessica gives birth to a son instead of a daughter despite explicitly given orders. It is said in the days after Paul Atreides was stolen away from Caladan that Duke Leto Atreides and the Lady Jessica bewailed that the Emperor had ever requested those of the Landsraad, all of the Great Houses, Major and Minor, to attend him at Kaitain, for it was there that Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen first saw their son and connived to have him. The Harkonnen's plan bore fruit three years later, when, after celebrations for Paul Atreides's coming of age, the heir to the storied and honorable House was kidnapped and brought to Giedi Prime, whereupon the na-baron declared him his husband and mate.
