The client hadn’t really requested anything at all; their emails had been almost overly polite, if not jarringly formal, and had selected only the most vanilla options on the questionnaire she provided. Certainly a far cry from the standard practices of her usual clientele, but this one had paid upfront and picked this expensive hotel, and Mira’s fees are dear enough on their own that she had been coloured intrigued.
Mira takes a left down the hallway after leaving the elevator and finds herself at the door to the room. She doesn’t steel herself—doesn’t need to. She can handle anything. Has handled most things. Mira swipes the keycard and lets herself in.
The person sitting on the bed is probably the last thing she expects.
In which Mira is a professional, Rumi is socially inept, and Zoey is also there. Let's hope nobody catches feelings.

Summary

‘Can I play?’
‘No.’
This time, the girl's whole body droops, not just her shoulders. But she still doesn’t leave. Her hands skitter like two pale spiders across the front of her overalls where there’s little stars and lightning bolts stitched into them and her face gets all tight, squinty, and she says,
‘Why not?’
‘Because I’m playing with my sister. I don’t know you.’
‘I’m Kate! It’s nice to meet you!’ The girl—Kate—holds out her hand. Yelena frowns at it. Kate’s hand is very clean and Yelena’s isn’t; she hadn’t noticed until now but her hands are dirty, black under her nails from digging in the dirt. ‘And you scared away my friends so you should let me play with you.’

Summary
After Clint Barton died saving the world, Kate Bishop lost her childhood hero and the ideal that a normal person could truly be a hero, so she focused instead on her family, and wound up neck deep in the inner city crime syndicate run by Wilson Fisk.
It started as a way to protect her mom, who lost herself in that life after her husband was killed in the Battle of New York. All Kate wanted was to get them out, but they're so entangled in Fisk's web it seems impossible now.
However, when a pretty girl named Yelena suddenly shows up in her life, with more secrets than Kate ever could have imagined, her whole world gets turned upside down.

Kate frowns, tucking the knife closer to her side without thinking. “I’m not holding a knife.”
“You’re a terrible liar,” Yelena says, head tilted to the side in the most disarming way possible. “My knife is not currently in my hand,” Yelena holds up both hands, palms facing Kate. “See?” She wiggles her fingers and Kate swallows the lump in her throat. “I’m not here to fight or frighten you.”
Kate scoffs, “you don’t frighten me.”
