Summary
Left behind at the Misty Palms Oasis, Katara waits days for Aang, Sokka, and Toph to return. But when bounty hunters close in, her only chance at escape comes from the last people she ever thought she could trust: Zuko and Iroh. Now traveling under false names and bound by a fake marriage, Katara finds herself on the road to Ba Sing Se. At first, she barely trusts him, but somewhere along the way, she starts to realize Zuko isn't what she thought he was.
She keeps reminding herself it will end once they reach the city, but in a place crowded with millions of refugees and stuck in the Lower Ring, she doesn’t have much hope of finding her friends. With no leads and nowhere else to go, she resolves to wait for them to find her. But in their cramped apartment, the days turn into weeks, and the longer they stay, the harder it becomes to remember where the act ends and something real begins.

Summary
After Zuko fails to capture Aang in the Spirit Oasis, he takes the next best thing: Katara. He plans to use her as bait to lure the Avatar, but a raging blizzard forces them to take shelter in an ice cave. They’re alone, freezing, and cut off from the rest of the world.
Polar blizzards can last for days, and survival leaves Katara no room for pride, or distance. Sharing warmth is unavoidable, but what she doesn’t expect is how much she comes to crave it. Katara knows she shouldn’t want this, but that doesn’t stop her. And with every passing night, it becomes harder to pretend she doesn’t ache for him.

Summary
The horizon was no longer empty. A ship cut through the mist—massive and black, with its metal sides slick with frost. Smoke bellowed upward from its smokestack, an oily smear against the pale sky. The ship slowed as it approached, shadow falling long and dark across their fragile ice floe.
The engines hissed, then went quiet. Then a head popped over the rail. An older man with silver hair peered down at them, his face kind, as he called out, “Hey, you kids need some help?”
Or, one act of mercy leads to another, until a cold, forgotten village begins to feel alive again…and a lonely boy with a scar might just find a home.

Summary
The Gaang finally makes it to Ba Sing Se…just in time for the Fire Nation to attack with a giant drill. Typical.
With Katara still missing, it’s up to Aang, Sokka, and Toph to stop the invasion from the inside. There’s just one problem: the drill is made entirely of metal, and Toph is blind in there. She can’t see and she can’t bend.
But when push comes to shove, and with the city’s fate hanging in the balance, she digs deep and does the impossible. Because when you’re the greatest earthbender in the world, you don’t wait for someone else to step up and save the day—you break through.
*Set between Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 of Fanning the Flames, this one-shot explores what Aang, Toph, and Sokka were going through off-screen, and how Katara’s absence changed everything.*

Summary
When Katara chose to stay behind at the Misty Palms Oasis, nobody was concerned…until the library sank and Appa was kidnapped. Now, the Gaang is stranded in the middle of a desert without their waterbender, and things are falling apart fast.
Aang is unraveling, Sokka is hallucinating, and Toph? She’s barefoot, blind, and pissed…but somehow still the most capable one here.
She didn’t vote herself team captain, but it’s not like anyone else was qualified.
*Set during Fanning the Flames, this one-shot explores what Aang, Toph, and Sokka were going through off-screen, and how Katara’s absence changed everything.*
