When Roger received no response from the blond boy, he continued. “That hat I let you borrow,” Roger pointed to it. “I wear it in battle, and it keeps me safe! If you’re worried about what might happen, just remember that hat protects the one who wears it from harm, alright?”
Rocinante stared up at Roger with wide, teary eyes. He clutched the brim of the straw hat once more and nodded.
Or: What if Roger was in the North Blue before Sengoku and decided to raise Rocinante instead?

Summary
The boys had had enough of Garp. He wanted to take them with him to the Marines for good on his next visit, which they obviously couldn't allow. So they had to escape. But that wasn't all; on the first island they stopped at, Luffy found something interesting. With it, they made the Marines' lives a living hell and made the pirates laugh.
English isn't my first language, I hope you'll forgive my mistakes...
