His eyelashes fluttered faintly, a sudden nervousness creeping across his face—an expression the commander had never before seen directed at him. “I… I didn’t think you would do this here, now, if at all. I had perhaps a small idea of your affections after Scarif, but I didn’t believe you would be so bold. Though, with both of us grievously injured, I suppose you thought you had no choice but to be bold…”
Then the Jedi traitor looked at the commander with what could only be described as devastatingly sincere heart-eyes as the tension melted from his jaw, replaced by a relaxed, almost dreamy look. “Oh, Cody… I love you, too…”
Cody blinked once, then twice, then uttered a strangled, “Huh—ghhnnghh…?”

Summary
What if Palpatine was still just as much of a diva as in the films but was just more effective.
The jedi are no longer safe, massacred and forced to hide a terrifying new regime. As some fall to the dark side, they are further demonized and with the looming threat of war the senate becomes desperate forcing the jedi to be placed under the command of the clones to fight in the war. As jedi and clone connect, the illusion and propaganda are seen through and the very army that Palpatine had created turns against him.

“Senator Palpatine is now chancellor, we must brace ourselves; he's a known challenger of the order.” Mace said, the force curled darkly and the room seemed to dim. He’s gained muscle, knowledge and skill since his return but he still felt ill prepared in the face of reality.

“On your knees.” Cody ordered, his blaster trained on the hooded Sith. His heavy breathing distorted and quietened by his helmet, giving none of his terror away to the enemy.
