At the behest of their father, Shinji and Rei enrolled at NERV University. Trying to make himself useful and get some distraction from constantly being overshadowed by his prodigy twin, Shinji signed up for the buddy programme, which means he’ll have to chaperone a foreign student around all term, assist them and what not.
Surely this Kaworu Nagisa arriving on a SEELE scholarship won’t change the twins’ lives forever?---

When he emerged from the sea, Shinji had been overjoyed to meet everyone again, but that day never came. Alone in a world where the apocalypse is long over, Shinji has to adjust and fit in, losing a shred of hope each day. Surrendered to his fate, he only meets his one true love again when the gates of freedom close.
