At that, Jax gave her a long look as his mouth narrowed out into a little line. Then he sighed quietly. It wasn't the way he used to sigh, with dramatic posturing that begged the attention from anyone even remotely listening. It was small. Tired. Reflexive. Then he sat down with his knees to his chest, glaring into the dark water. The only light here, a single streetlamp, glowed weakly.
"Denial is an ugly color on you. Clashes with your stupid hat."
"Jax — "
"I'm gone," he snapped. His voice echoed in the abyss. "Don't you get it? No one comes back from Abstraction. You're not saving me, you're not helping me grow. All you're doing is keeping my body from rotting." Jax's hands worked their way up to his head, squeezing as he growled, "You're talking to a ghost."

Summary
Something goes wrong. The crown is split during Narinder's defeat, splitting the power between him and the Lamb.
Narinder keeps a portion of his godhood, and the Lamb finds that abilities they had access to before are no longer possible: Healing is cut short. Powers are halved. And there is a very real chance of permadeath, as the ability to resurrect is not possible without full power, and the God of Death is not cooperative.
Afterlife and Purgatory are not options either. Dying means erasure. Gone.Lambert knows Narinder grows stronger by the day, crown or not, and yet keeps him spared as they try to figure out how to complete their own goals. Narinder vows vengeance on the lamb for usurping him. After a few unsuccessful murder attempts, he's in for the long haul. It is only a matter of time before the Lamb's guard is down before he can strike, and The One Who Waits is very patient. When a mystic being demands they save the bishops from purgatory, an alliance is in order.
Except...the lamb's actions and their presence begin to unlock abilities within the God of Death he didn't know he had prior to his imprisonment, among other fickle things, like emotions. The prophecy didn't warn him of that part.

When the world almost ended about a decade ago and weird creatures of darkness began to plunge the Earth into mass mayhem, Nicole thought to herself, "Huh, so that's what a bitch looks like leaving a child and wife behind," while her third step father ran off when a wolf broke into their house ready to kill them. She also thought, "Huh, that's what guts look like," when he got mauled to death five seconds later, but that's unrelated.
Honestly, it's a miracle shit went back to normal after all that. Apparently with murder monsters that come from nightmares comes a whole new world full of people who kill them on the regular.
Besides the prevented death of humanity and possible avoidance of nuclear fall out, Nicole didn't think of the world known as Remnant, it had jack all to do with her.
Until her mom dragged her to join her on a "vacation," just at the start of her sophomore Winter Break, and what does she happen to do? Meet some himbo blond from said world of monsters, fucks him, and now she is not only moving down to Virginia of all states but now has to deal with another new step dad and a way to happy step sister.
The dog is fine though.

Marcy growls in frustration and something behind her in the call shrieks. The sound is eerily familiar and the goosebumps running up Anne’s spine can’t seem to decide why.

“That!” Marcy growls, “Is why I need you here. Goddamnit, Anne, they found her!”
Anne is still lost.
“Found who?!”

Summary
Depression is a horrible thing, all consuming and crushing. So when a failed attempt to cheer him up by the Six Sins leads Lucifer Morningstar, lord of the Seven Circles of Hell and Rubber Duck Enthusiast, into a random bar in a random city the last thing he's expecting is to strike up a conversation with someone who understands the pain of lost love.
Naturally, things quickly spiral out of hand as Lucifer, now Lucius Magne, tries to date the lovely Camila Noceda while hiding his true nature, completely unaware that Camila is doing the exact same thing with the true nature of her daughters college... and her other daughters species. Add in some troublesome earth-bound imps, Some troublesome Sins trying to 'help' him, and trying to run an entire dimension sized kingdom and you got a romantic comedy for the ages.
One could almost call it a Divine Comedy.

Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”
