He still wanders. Without purpose. All he has left is to find her. Then, he can rest.
It's all her fault. She left him when he needed her, and he became lost. Even the Goddesses cannot reach him now. It's up to her to bring him home. Like she should have all those years ago.
Or, if you wanna strip away the theatrics, The Hero of Time is still wandering, looking for his Guardian Fairy. Meanwhile, A Guardian Fairy searches for her charge. The current Hero and Princess are happy to help reunite these timeless friends.
