Summary
In a Mer society where everyone has both the parts for siring and carrying, and mating is decided by combat, Tartaglia makes a reputation for himself as undefeated. And yet, he has never taken a mate. The other Mer wonder why that is. Until one day, Tartaglia declares that he will challenge and mate The Lord of the Seabed, Morax.
Morax is an ancient Mer who is rarely seen outside of the deepest parts of Liyue Trench. He is feared and outcast for his strange magic that can manipulate land instead of water.
Nobody expects Morax to answer Tartaglia's challenge, much less come out to meet him.

It starts with a ginger tom. Stiles isn’t quite sure how it gets into the apartment but there it is, stretched out on the awful beige carpet in a patch of sunlight. Stiles pauses, bottom lip just touching the rim of his Wonder Woman mug. He doesn’t take a sip of coffee due to the presence of well, a ginger cat. It’s mystifying to say the least. He puts the cup down on the coffee table and proceeds with caution. He stands over the cat, nudging it gently with his foot. The cat flicks one beady eye up to look at him and evidently thinks Stiles is not worth his time because the eye closes and it continues to sleep on peacefully.
“Scott,” Stiles hollers, “Did you bring work home with you again?”

“And what are you doing little one? Hmm?” Peter murmurs as he runs a careful finger along Stiles’ head. God, Stiles would purr if he could at the contact, but he’s too busy trying not to pass out. He can feel Peter taking his pain as he holds him and moves around the apartment.
He meows quietly, trying to thank Peter in some way, nuzzling into his chest a little with his head.
