    Baelor Breakspear survives Ashford by an inch of bone, and Dunk rides to Summerhall with Egg as his squire. Dunk keeps waiting for Prince Maekar to remember he's supposed to hate him and throw him out. Any day now, surely. He'd stake his sword on it.

    Little did he know, he'd lose his sword.

    While Dunk anxiously awaits his dismissal, the rest of Summerhall; from a convalescing Baelor down to the stable boys; is watching Prince Maekar perform the least self-aware adoption in history, and running a betting pool on when Dunk will realise he's already family.

    (Alternatively: the 7 times Dunk didn't realise he'd become a Maekarling, and +1 time he did.)

    At first, he thinks mice, but mice does not scratch like that, does not make a noise like that.

    Have you seen them, ser?

    Dunk stands. He walks, he carefully, slowly walks. His feet meet soft, cold carpet and there are beads if sweat running down his brows, dropping off his chin.

    Smoke. There is smoke.
    But no fire. Nothing of sort.

    Not yet, something seems to murmur. Not yet.

    Dunk comes to stand in front of the cradle. He hesitates.

    Watch them. Watch and see them, ser.

    Dunk follows the Targaryens to Summerhall.
    And he finds more than just the metaphorical dragons.

    As new eyes open, it brings about a change that is both hoped and dreaded in equal measure, but more importantly, like a new verse added to the old song, it is something needed by the House of the Dragon.
