Saving because basically a missing scene and I love it
Story time!
Some 20 years ago ish, I wrote a very similar fic. It must have been just as the Nihon chapters were released? Or even before, but I think they might have just gotten there.Anyway.
In my fic, Fai broke down over having landed in Nihon because he assumed Kurogane would stay. And meanwhile, Kuro was talking to Tomoyo like, "you know I'm not staying right"? And she essentially goes well duh, have a good one. (I am paraphrasing, it was more serious lol.)
Aaaanyway I thought it was so angsty and shiet (I think I was listening to "Kaze no machi e" as I wrote it because it set a vibe). But oh man it sucked so bad lol. It was way before ao3, the dark ages. Time flies.
ANYWAY I am bookmarking this because this is like LITERALLY what I remember I WANTED to write - I just didn't have the skills as a storyteller to make it this good.

Summary
“Did you know that you have freckles, Kuro-sama?” Fai asks quietly as his eye looks over Kurogane’s face with some kind of reverence.
Kurogane smiles fondly, so full of love for this man. He did know that, actually, as he had spent so much time in the sun as a child. They faded over many years of guarding the palace at night and sleeping through the day, so much so that they are almost undetectable unless someone is as close as Fai is right now. And Kurogane doesn’t usually let anyone this close.Kurogane and Fai share their final night in Nihon together before departing to Clow.
