Charlie Spring isn’t sure what he’s going to do with his life.
A break from everything, he's urged by his friends, should do the trick. So while renting out a house on the other side of the country, he definitely doesn’t expect anything out of the ordinary.
But the Universe has other plans, in the shape of a handsome ghost, who can't remember anything past his own name.***
For reasons I cannot fully articulate with the limited amount of characters I have, I will be abandoning this work. It encompasses a lot of creative ideas I had at the time; unfortunately I was unable to properly do any of them justice. It is not unlikely that I might pick up a project with themes from this work (or even entirely rework this), albeit with a focus I lacked in previous years.
While I doubt anybody actually got invested in this, I apologise nonetheless.

it was after watching my ninth depressing brokeback mountain edit of the day when I'd finally had enough. "fuck this shit," i said, closing tiktok. "i need a fix-it"
and that is exactly what this is!!
i like how realistic the homophobia is (especially the internalized one my god), i like how i could actually picture jack and ennis growing old together. i like how ennis has the same flaws as in the movie (for the sake of my mental health, i refuse to touch the book). i LOVED his character development.now that being said, i did get annoyed. i don't like jake Gyllenhaal (great actor, yes I am fully aware, something abt him scares me nonetheless), so I've always felt a bit irrationally annoyed by Jack. So the shit he pulls in this fic… no. Just no.
And TWICE, Ennis (along with the reader) is forced to prematurely forgive Jacks bs because he gets hurt. Like?? im sorry, idgaf. you being in the hospital doesn't change what you did. idk maybe i hold grudges.
this is one of those times i overlooked a tag only for it to jumpscare me later on.
Also! The OCs are genuinely well written. I can't remember the last time I didn't despise an OC, so this was a nice change of pace. Probably cuz its an obvious self insert, which is something I've always enjoyed anyways (what can i say, being the fly on the wall seems fun)
Edit: Reread this on a plane sometime in April. I was asked: "What're you reading?" numerous times.

After 3 hours of searching, I’ve finally found it. My fav Drarry fanfic
00:53 230626: Js binge-read it all again. Oh my gosh. I have so much I like about this I'm entirely unsure of where to begin. Starting off, brown Harry!! Yes!! Brown Hermione!!! Yes!! Also, extremely book accurate Harry. Dialogue on point. And funny. I did laugh on several occasions. Pacing! Perfection! Like, not too slow but not too fast. Love love love. Optimism all-around. -
