Rumplestiltskin knows Belle has learned all the right lessons from their pirate ship adventure -- namely, to tread lightly with memory and...physical modification so things don't get too crazy for her. He's kind of relieved when, a few months later, Belle suggests they create a fantasy where both have their memories suppressed. After all, he won't have to be in charge of the situation or worry about the power imbalance, and Belle, promising to take care of herself, will probably choose something naughty-but-manageable like a redo of a memory from the Dark Castle. There will be no casting herself as a recklessly tight virgin or a teenager or anything like that *at all*, even if he ended up having...perhaps a little fun, because he certainly doesn't want to hurt her.
It's not like she's going to put them in a fantasy where Mr. Gold loses control around his beautiful teenage shop assistant, right?
Right?
Meanwhile, Belle wants to have a little fun and make her husband admit that he isn't so above the whole "forcing her to bend to his whims and also maybe come several times" thing.
They both modify their memories, and then Belle French walks into the shop to start her latest after-school shift.
