They lay there in the blissful silence again, and Atsushi fought off the urge to slip back into the lovely dream he’d been having. Something about chazuke, he thought. He brought his arms closer around Akutagawa’s back, but the sheets stopped him. Atsushi glanced down and found he was not tangled up, but that the sheets had morphed into white bands that had wrapped themselves around Atsushi’s limbs and torso.
He glanced down at what he could see of Akutagawa, and saw one of his fists curled around the fabric, grip tight even in his sleep.
Atsushi sighed.

But as he looked outside every blistering word melted away in an instant.
There stood Akutagawa, sopping wet on their stoop like a stray dog without a cardboard box to sleep under.
