She sat next to him on his bed, her fingers trailing up and down the large bandage on his side. “Does it hurt?”
He shook his head, “The painkillers are doing their job. It doesn’t really feel like much, sometimes a dull throbbing but, right now, nothing.”
“Were you scared?” Noah asked, thinking back to the utter helplessness and terror she felt seeing him unconscious on the street, leaning against his car, flipped. She was so worried the thing was going to blow.
His hand covered hers, stilling it against the bandage. “I was terrified the moment I realized he had you. I stopped being scared the minute I knew you were safe.”
