Everything her bones knew she needed when she'd dreamt about having adventures. But it fades, quickly. Into sore shoulders and bruised ribs and the realization that they have to sleep and eat so badly.

Summary
Kit, in principle, represents everything Jade admires; the crown, lawful rule, structure, safety, and freedom. Principles ever present in Jade’s mind, and the way she carries herself. Each one a reminder of what her family was fighting to reach. Values Jade would now give her life to preserve in service of their memory.
Kit, in practice, is the antithesis of everything she’s meant to stand for. Behind the masked layers of rigid structure that constrain her, Kit is anything but. Always searching for a freedom that will forever elude a person of her station. Kit can be impulsive, certainly reckless, and headstrong. Kit, despite the efforts of her mother and the court, remains wild, untamed. Kit is the embodiment of free will. Kit reminds her of home, the one beyond the barrier. Her company soothing an ache that Jade can’t name.
