Summary
Dirk Strider goes out into the world with two goals: find something, and lose himself in the process. It works well enough until a handsome boy with bottle green eyes follows the trail of missed connections and ticket stubs right to his heart and decides to help himself to everything Dirk was determined to throw away.

Summary
The alphas were the dominant breed, and were able to form a bond with either a beta or an omega, if they ever found one. Alpha and alphas bonds were rare, even more so than an alpha bonding with an omega. The betas were the people who were tagged as ‘normal’. They could only form a bond with an alpha, and never with an omega. They made up a little bit over half the population.
The omegas were somewhat rare, only making up about 10% of the population. They were considered low-class, and older people discriminated against them.
No one wanted to be an omega, as they were the ones pushed around and dominated. Most people wanted to be presented as a beta, as many couldn’t handle the stress of an alpha, who would have to maintain their territory. Most omegas were unhappy with their title.John Egbert was an exception.

In the sticky summer of 2009, the Crockers and the Harleys ship out for a family-fun-enforced road trip that's meant to take them on down to Texas for touristy enjoyment. Of course, after a tragically cliche car failure, they're taken in by a couple of "weirdass rednecks," who don't quite intend to let them finish the trip.
