Summary
It used to be his body that he gave away to be used, but he hasn’t done that since this whole ordeal began. He never went to bed with Tav as he’d planned, and he isn’t sure what the name is for what he feels when he thinks of doing it now – making himself a commodity he can trade for safety, security. Not quite disgust, but a repulsion that’s probably always been there, he just never had the luxury of acknowledging it before.
Even as repellent as he finds the idea now, selling himself is still easy. It’s practiced, routine. A role he slips into, a mask he pulls on far too easily.
Deciding when it’s safe to give up these softer, littler pieces of himself is a far more daunting task.
And maybe that’s why it needs to be done.

Shouta had learned to expect the worst.
Any late-night phone call could set off the reaction – body tensing, hair standing on end in ways that had nothing to do with his quirk, mind already jumping to conclusions before he’d even answered it. Whether or not the situation was as bad as he imagined, he was prepared either way.
And a phone call like that? With Shinsou’s voice so strained and shaky as he’d told Shouta where to find him? The scenarios flooding his imagination threatened to let dread overtake him. He couldn’t even tell himself he was overreacting, because this neighborhood, this time of night? And he’d never heard Shinsou sound half so desperately undone as he had in those sparse moments on the phone.
