So when the Water Tribe girl looks at him with wild eyes, begging for help, and Azula raises one eyebrow with a sneer, Zuko chooses.
Azula’s scream of anger when he blasts a fireball in her direction is almost worth the twenty Dai Li agents that immediately surround him.
(or: Zuko is taken prisoner by Azula in the catacombs. Turns out, being kept miles away from the sun isn't so great for your bending.)

Summary
“Why aren’t you rowing?” A voice, coldly accusing, called out behind him. It came as if from someone sitting at the back of the boat. Nicky recognized it, but stayed gazing forwards at the horizon. Dark clouds gathered, blotchy and heavy, as if they were weighing down the entire sky until it sagged against the ocean.
“There’s no point.” Nicky confessed, gentle in spite of the bite in the other’s voice. “I am not going to outrun the storm.”
“‘No point’.” A bitter scoff. “Easy to claim for the man with nothing of his own at stake.”
“We looked for centuries.”
“And I drowned for longer.”
Nicky closed his eyes. The wind was picking up, rippling through his hair and clothes. The boat listed under its force, and the waves were going to undoubtedly follow. Behind him, Quynh stayed silent.
“Ok.” Nicky said finally, quiet acquiescence. “Guide me, and I’ll go on.”
“Row.”

Summary
When a failed mission leaves Nicky with the seriously injured members of his team, he is forced to push his limits. To protect his family. Whatever it takes.
I love you, Nicky engraves into Joe’s soul, a throbbing echo in his veins, and he absorbs Joe’s counterpart like life-saving water. It’s an encouragement for both of them.
It alerts Nicky to how exhausted Joe looks, and Joe’s flaring nostrils in response to the discomfort of his injury slice into his heart, but Booker is still missing.
