Summary
Emily Prentiss doesn’t fall in love the way people expect.
She notices. She files things away. She tells herself stories that make sense: about partnership, about loyalty, about why Jennifer Jareau matters more to her than anyone else. It takes years before the truth becomes unavoidable, and by then, JJ’s life has already grown in directions Emily has no right to disrupt.
So Emily stays exactly where she belongs: close enough to see everything, far enough to never ask for more.

Summary
There is a leaf in JJ’s hair. Emily cannot stop staring at it.
She doesn’t notice it. Emily doesn’t know why she would. Why anyone would. There is possibly nobody else in the world who should lower themselves so much, who should find such entertainment and awe and fervid jealousy in a leaf in the hand of the woman that she loves. That she should not be this stupid leaf, tangled in her hands and upon her in whatever way that she could be.
