Cicadas howling, water flowing, wind rustling leaves.
A typical summer day in rural Japan.
A young boy — no more than 8 years old — is staring at the water, eyes gazing at the sun's waving reflection. His appearance is peculiar, an oddity in this time and place: long honey-brown hair some strands braided together with leaves or feathers, a round cherubic face marred with freckles mimicking constellations in the night sky, and two ruby jewels as red as blood encased by long eyelashes. This boy is alien to the local population. He's as alone as he should be, a bad omen, a curse, a blight upon the land.

Summary

He wanted to feel the wind on his face and sand beneath his feet while he walked hand in hand with his love, like in one of those old romcoms. But he was the son of Domino City’s biggest crime lord, and he knew he would never be free.
Atem had a grudge that dominated his life. Nothing could stop him from getting revenge for his parents' deaths. But his single minded focus began to change the night that Yuugi came into his life. He had never met someone so full of contradictions. So fragile Atem feared he would break him, but so strong he put Atem to shame. He lived wild and free while chained and caged and controlled.
Their time together was a blur of lust and emotion that threatened to destroy them both.
