    Steve glances up, but Munson doesn’t give him much more than a flat glare. He grins with teeth, slouches a little, and his worn leather jacket opens up over a faded tee that Steve can’t quite see the graphic on.

    “Buckley,” he says, and then nudges her plate like a heathen. “Got a full moon appetite I see.”

    Robin sucks in a breath, eyes narrowed. “Oh wow,” she says. “Shouldn’t you be worrying about your third stint at senior year, Munson?”

    Munson’s got an expressive face; he looks very briefly like he’s been slapped, then says, reluctantly, “Yeah, I guess so,” and slinks away.

    The plates rattle in the cabinets. The trailer's kitchen is glowing orange like fire while the sun tracks to the black edge of the horizon, and Steve can't dance for shit, always gets a little deer in the headlights when Eddie tries to hip chuck him into it. Slow, Steve puts his hands up high on Eddie's waist and tries to move with him, clumsy as shit but earnest, and Jesus Christ, Eddie wants to keep this guy snug in his pocket and feed him kitchen scraps. Get him a collar. Tug.

    Eddie doesn’t expect to meet him as soon as he does, but before even his first week in town is out, Steve turns up on Eddie’s doorstep, looking at once earnest and wary, and just as handsome as the gossip had said.

    (Not that that last bit has any bearing on anything.)

    “People in town say you’re the one to see for remedies,” Steve says when Eddie gets the door open.

    “People in town say a lot of things,” Eddie replies. “But in this case, they’re right. Come on in.”
