He feels the man before he sees him. It was as if a gust of fresh air swept across him, dispelling a build-up of metaphorical mustiness that had unknowingly been preventing him from breathing properly.
Embarrassingly, the release of tension caused his knees to buckle as he stepped into the room. He would have face-planted right onto the carpet if it weren’t for a pair of long, steady arms holding him up.
