Summary
In Rauru and Sonia’s ancient Hyrule, the Gerudo King Ganondorf and the mysterious visiting Lady Zelda finally have a formal introduction, which makes a distinct impression on the misplaced Princess, and sends her imagination running wild.
After discovering Ganondorf’s puppet-led infiltration of the palace, Zelda realizes she may have the leverage she needs to shape a much better future than the one she was stolen from. She embarks on an odyssey to form an unlikely alliance with the Gerudo King, leading to a reckoning with the Zonai's true design for Hyrule--including their ultimate plan for the future Princess herself.

A heartbeat away. An offering of peace. An offering to save her people, to be the shield that they need. To fulfill the very duty she was brought into this world for. All she has to do is say yes.
Zelda survives her attempt to save Midna's life and finds herself with no choice but to ally with Hyrule's greatest and most dangerous enemy. Ganondorf claims he has no desire to rule over ashes but he remains as enigmatic as ever, haunted by the ghost of a past he refuses to speak of. Hyrule needs a strong hand to guide it, to judge the sins it was built on and teach it to repent, and its true king has arrived, with his gentle queen by his side. Together, the unlikely pair must right the wrongs that came before them and try to create a better future.
And maybe along the way, they can find healing in each other.

Summary
The Calamity is gone. The remaining leaders of Hyrule gather for a Summit to determine the future of the kingdom, starting with how to repurpose all the Sheikah Technology. Zelda is among them, and while everyone still calls her Princess, she’s not sure she wants to lay claim to an old throne. What she really wants is to move on. She wants to continue her research, to prove her worth beyond her bloodline, and to spend as much time with Link as she can…which sounds an awful lot like what she wanted a hundred years ago…
(Or, a lot of change happens in between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Let’s fill in the gaps.)

“For mercy's sake,” said Gandalf.
