The Dark Ages were marked with war.
Thirteen kingdoms spanned across the Empire of Menzoberranzan, each hoarding valuable resources the others vied for. House Baenre, in the Kingdom of the Eastern Region Qu'ellarz'orl, and home to the Empress of these lands, towered above these great Households as a titan of power.
Immeasurable lives were lost in the eternal churn of the Unending War. The three greatest houses of the Empire were thus made to be allies against the lower kingdoms, solidifying their station above all.
In the approximate 1400th year of Our Dark Lady, a lowborn soldier donned her armour and stood in the thirteenth kingdom, in the castle of Household Duskryn.

Or the flicker of fireflies in the late afternoon. Or the rustle of bamboo when a cold breeze whistles through the long, slender stalks. That is to say, what Yrliet feels is rarer than gold. A feeling so rare it is regurgitated by time for mere moments before it is swallowed by oblivion.

Summary
The entire first half of Rolan’s life was spent feeling helpless and angry. Even after escaping his childhood home, Elturel and then the Grove, fate seems to be intent on reminding him of how small he really is.
Tav is the gallant hero, always swooping in to save him and it is infuriating. To add insult to injury, despite himself, he actually likes her.

Gale hoped this new school year was exactly what he needed to get back onto his feet and right his life again from the feeling of imploding doom he felt within. It was upon his return he would learn there would be a new librarian at the school, and with a blossoming friendship, his mending heart too would learn how to love again with her help.
