Summary
Wally West’s life is about as average and boring as one can get. Sixteen years old, and all he’s got going for him is his County High School’s track record, a substitute position on the school’s Academic Decathlon Team (thank you, AP Chem), and a pair of emotionally unavailable parents. Yikes.
But when Wally stumbles into a fantastical world populated by ghoulish monster folk, everything he knows turns upside down. In his struggle to accept his new reality, he and his newfound companions search diligently for a way to send him home. Except, there’s a catch: if the other citizens of Halloween Town discover he’s a human, he might not ever get out. Luckily, Wally happens to know a thing or two about being an outsider hiding in plain sight. This’ll be a total piece of cake!

After cutting his best friend and foster sister, Rapunzel, out his life, Varian's just trying to finish out his sophomore year at college while juggling his shitty part-time job and vigilante sidegig. This all gets turned upside-down when his arch nemesis walks through the front doors of the local Starbucks. Hugo- otherwise known in the underground as White Crow- is charming, evasive, and annoying.

Day one:”Promise”
When he emerges from his tent, he's met with the sight of Hugo sat on the ground, body twisted into a position that would be impossible for any non-flexible human being. His wings are spread, light from the campfire dancing on mussed white feathers. His shirt is cast to the side, his hair released from its usual tight ponytail, and for once, he looks unguarded. Something in the back of Varian's sleep-muddle brain thinks that he's never been a religious person, but Hugo looks a hell of a lot like an angel right now.
He blinks a few times, then shakes his head to expel the thought. He must be more tired than he thought, if he's thinking things like that.
