Ms.Perfect isn't so perfect behind closed doors. Lucy Chen is supposedly the perfect child. Perfect grades, pretty, popular, a rich family, a perfect life, right? wrong. What goes on behind closed doors leaves bloodstains in Lucy's clothes and on the bedsheets and the carpet. Cleaning up her parent's messes; alcohol bottles scattered about the house, driving to pick her mother up from the club after midnight, becoming a mother to her sister at a young age. Lucy isn't sure if she can do it anymore. Kris is laid back. Definitely not perfect, always playing pranks, a terrible influence according to Lucy's parents. But Lucy cant help but feel drawn in by their carefree nature, and Kris cant help but see past that shell she presents as her real self. Maybe following Kris into the unknown isn't such a bad idea...

Summary
The real world can be a cruel place.
There is no Dark World. No Lightners. No Darkners. No prophecy to set forth a chain of events to whisk away tears and make everything right. No chain of coincidence to magically and miraculously mend broken bonds and build friendships anew.
In the Real World, there is only Kris—lifelong loser and social outcast. Amidst a broken home, an unrequited childhood crush, and the myriad other struggles of adolescence, they want nothing more than to live a regular life—to be normal—to blend in.
Or: Kris weathers the decadence and melodrama of modern suburbia.

The puzzle pieces judder together with horrifying clarity. Standing in the center of the room, she can see the full picture. Everything missing from the phone, the fragments of herself in the dorm, the odd inflection in Kris’ voice.
This isn’t a dream. It isn’t the Dark World. But it is, impossibly, an alternate world entirely.
Kris sighs again, muttering something to themself. “Do you need me to come over? Are you alone?”
“Kris, I think I’m in the wrong world,” she manages.
