Summary
"We were so worried, we heard you—" Ragatha starts, and then looks up. She meets Jax's gaze dead-on, and goes silent. Tears brim in the corner of her eye. Her hand flies up to cover her mouth. He can't tell if the look on her face is relief or fear.
Gangle's staring at him like she's seen a ghost. Pomni slowly raises to her feet, brows furrowed. She winces as every movement jars her wavering form.
Cowered on the floor, panting, confused and disoriented, with everyone standing above him, taller than him… it reminds Jax of something deeply unpleasant. They're all staring at him. They're all seeing him.
Jax knows they're not going to like what they see.
His breath quickens until his head is spinning, and he feels like he's going to vomit. He forces himself upwards with a frustrated cry, swaying in place, and then turns and bolts towards his room as fast as he can.
"NO!" Pomni screams.
(or: pomni pulls jax back from the brink.)

Summary
Christine has always followed the traditional path in life, went to school, graduated with her bachelor's in accounting, and went to work at Fresh Mart as an accountant for three years. Nothing about her life can be described as extraordinary. Except for one thing, her secret love for exploring strange places- abandoned buildings, suspected haunted houses, and cemeteries, all of which she frequently explored to have a taste of excitement in her otherwise dull life. Summary
There’s something eerie in how he watches you with those sharp, needle-like eyes. It feels as if he’s trying to pull apart every little detail in your face and your words. Like you’re a puzzle to put together, a creature to observe, a book to read down to the letter.
The smallest twitch of your lips, the flutter of your eyelashes, the sound of the gentle stutter making it harder still to speak properly— It’s easy to feel like prey when someone is watching you with the eyes of a predator. Despite that, Harlequin doesn’t make you feel like you’re about to be eaten.
Just… watched.
