Silently, Omori makes his way through Blackspace, collecting keys and then using them immediately on other doors in search for the singular nightmare down here who bears glowing red eyes. Every door he passes through adds a new corpse to the ever-growing clutter of bodies on a cold ground bare of vegetation.
In fact, it's that exact detail that made this next room so irregular; it was filled with flora, a sparkling purple sky overhead.

As if on cue, the silver chain snapped for no reason whatsoever. Xie Lian startled and attempted to catch it as it fell, but a burst of bad luck ensured that it slipped through his fingers and went tumbling merrily down the slope. Catch me, come catch me, the ring winked in the sunlight.
Naturally, Xie Lian attempted to do so. Naturally, he stubbed his toe on a root, toppled over, and rolled down the hill in hot, uncontrollable pursuit of the ring.
For a ghost, giving your ashes to a loved one is a high-risk decision. Giving your ashes to the God of Disaster is a tremendously high-risk decision.
Hua Cheng is the most qualified being to make that decision. And, as Xie Lian discovers, a Ghost King does not do take-backsies.

Summary
The meeting was supposed to be nothing but an empty formality. A sort of prelude and introductory event before the art exhibition the very next week. All Hua Cheng had to do was nod, agree to their conditions, and let Yin Yu read over the fine print and deal with anything else.
She had been over this tens of times, and all she wanted to do in the moment was go back home to her wife's embrace and soft smile as soon as this was over.
Instead, she found herself sitting in a squeaky chair, squinting at an iPad the "creative director" of the gallery had slid over in disbelief.
Or: Hua Cheng finds that some of her arts of Xie Lian have been "enhanced" for an art exhibition. Safe to say, she is not happy with the development. Cue an emotional hurt/comfort with domestic hualesbians.
