  1. Summary

One hero isn't enough for the sprawling War of Eras, a conflict so large it pulls in three more heroes from across time and space. A pirate, an engineer, and a disturbed pre-teen fresh out of Termina's time loop.

Except the hero of Termina is working for Cia, with something dark lurking in his heart. And somehow Ravio is there too, despite not being a hero at all. Together, the two of them need to save Hyrule and maybe-kinda-sorta adopt each other.

They just have to not die first.

A absolute delight. Slowly figuring out who was who and how they got into this situation was incredibly fun to piece together.

    Summary

A collection of short meta essays about some of the darker and more mysterious elements in the lore of the Legend of Zelda series. Many of these essays use Ganondorf as a key to understanding the deeper themes of the games and the underlying forces that have shaped the history and metaphysics of Hyrule, but there are also discussions of Princess Zelda, Link, Midna, the Sheikah, and the Gerudo. The first chapter contains a table of contents and a brief summary of each essay.

Excellent analysis of the murky lines between "good" and "evil" in the Zelda series.

    Summary

When Shadow shattered the Dark Mirror, he had expected to die. That had certainly happened. It was very painful and he would really like to not do it again.

What he hadn't expected was to wake up on the floor of a very creepy castle, be mistaken for a severed portion of Dark Link's reflection of the Hero's Spirit, and essentially be coerced into working for Ganondorf to attack the group of time-traveling heroes that Link had apparently, somehow, joined.

Shadow was only supposed to survive for long enough to figure out where the mirror that Ganondorf probably had his soul connected to was, and how to get back to Link. He wasn't supposed to get attached to Dark Link. He also wasn't supposed to start seeing a younger version of himself, from before Vio came crashing into his life, in him. He especially wasn't supposed to start trying to teach Dark how to live beyond the confines of the battle he had known for so long.

Or, Shadow adopts a new kid/brother, pulls a Vio (in more ways than just spying on the enemy from inside), and has way too much fun mentally cussing out Ganondorf.

    Summary

It’s an old story, just as stories always are; there’s a hero and a princess and three points to a triangle, and the gods bestow power among those they find worthy, and then the gods go mad and the people destroy the golden power out of fear and the world plunges into darkness as it enters its death throes.

It’s an old story. There is no golden power left to save them.

It’s an old story. Just because that power is gone, it doesn’t mean the gods left with it.

(Or: a three-part story about a bunny boy, the goddess in his head, and the legend he is not the hero of.)

Wonderful interpretation of the goddesses in Lorule. And a wonderful Ravio.

    Summary

    "What are you doing?!”
“Rescuing you,” Legend calls out from across the room. “Duh.”
To punctuate the statement, Legend fires a sword beam straight into the eye of a hinox. In a burst of black blood, its headless corpse crumples to the ground.
“You don’t have to!” Dink snaps, glaring at the heroes. “You really don’t have to! In fact, you shouldn’t!”
“Hey,” Sky says. He has the audacity to look emotionally hurt. “You’re important to us. Of course we’d come to rescue you!”
Dink doesn’t even know where to begin.

Dink joins the Chain. Dink suffers.
