Where Jason never had that fateful night with the Joker and stayed on as Robin, so Tim Drake never succeeded him. Jason and Bruce had a "be your own man" falling out, but now he's back on the team as Red, and he's handed over the mantle to Damian.
Tim’s going to med school. Doesn’t stop his asshole supervisor from scheduling him on the dreaded seven-to-three night shift. At least he’s on a quiet ward tonight. It’s probably one of the quietest nights Tim’s had since he took up this nursing gig. He’s even got enough energy left in him for a brief late-night-early-morning shower when he stumbles back into his apartment around four a.m. He shucks his scrubs on the way over to the ensuite, yawning in the yellowed light. Tim’s down to his boxer briefs by the time his bare feet touch cold tile, and then he’s really, truly awake, because there’s someone in his bathroom.
The man’s dressed in something that looks suspiciously like a motorcycle jacket, only sleeker and with a slice of accented ruby up the sides. Tim’s lived in Gotham for six years, so he knows exactly what that is.

Summary
The vigilante looks confused for the barest moment, before he follows Tim’s gaze down, and seems to notice the wound for the first time. Like catching a bullet with your spleen is an afterthought. “Oh, that’s just a scratch. I’ll take a large fries though.”
Tim thinks, not for the first time since he started this trial he calls a part-time job, that he doesn’t get paid enough to deal with the nonsense Gotham drags through the automatic doors.

Tim doesn’t ask how Jason knows the Titans are off-site. He supposes it was part and parcel of the whole attempted murder plot, to catch Tim alone, defenceless, with his guard down. Easier to pin down one wheezing teen on a roof when you don’t have a team of metas to worry about.
Funny, how the universe had a way of interfering.
