It was bound to happen at some point. Honestly, when he's this close to the edge, it doesn't take all that much to shatter him. Izuku loves being a Hero, it's the one thing he's always wanted more than anything -- even when he was still Quirkless and desperate to mean something. To be more. After All Might passed One For All to him, made his dream a tangible possibility and something he could achieve, he grabbed hold of the opportunity and jumped.
Being a Hero is hard though, not just on the body, but on everything. UA prepared them for a lot, gave them resources to fall back on and strategies to cope, then sent them into the Real World, where people relying on them became a fact rather than a simulation.
