Summary

Valentine’s Day was the one day a year they dared to break free from the chaos Oz had fallen into, finding a brief moment of reprieve from the neverending rollercoaster their lives had become. As the years pass, dreams of a life together are breathed into existence.
When Glinda is left to pick up the pieces in the wake of Elphaba’s melting, she returns to the place where it all began. All she has left are her memories, a crystal poppy, a story stuck at its beginning, and a golden promise etched into a tree.
Those dreams they’d once dreamt, and the life they’d planned together, are now surely out of reach.
But are they really?

Summary
It felt like she was being torn apart. Blood rushed in her ears as her bones snapped and shifted, her skin stretching and pulling as her whole body broke and reformed. She’d never felt anything like this before.
When the pain finally stopped, she lay panting and shuddering against the freezing stone. Her nerves were still sparking and her heart felt like it was trying to burst from her chest.
In between pained breaths, she heard her voice, once comforting, now cold and sharp.
“Oh yes, I think she’s exactly what we were looking for. The perfect spy.”

When Galinda shows an affinity for shifting forms, her parents reach out to Madame Morrible to plead for help, not knowing that in doing so they were sealing their daughter’s fate. Five years spent in the Emerald City under watchful eyes has honed her skills as a spy, working for the Wizard against the Animal Rebellion. Thrust into a strange new world at Shiz, tasked with learning all she can about Doctor Dillamond, Galinda is faced with a reality she wasn’t prepared for. All she knew to do was… just keep breathing.

“I’m just g-glad you’re alive,” Glinda’s nails bit weakly into her back. Beneath her hands, Elphaba could feel the uptick in the blonde’s uneven gasps of breath. “I love you.”
Eight letters.
Three words.
Three syllables.
That was all it took to eviscerate Elphaba’s walls, the dam breaking for good as she clung to Glinda with equal desperation, “I love you too.

Summary
In retrospect, Glinda should’ve known something wasn’t quite right.
She should have seen the signs for what they were. Should have realised that the apparent easy-going lessons were a distraction, a mask much like the one she had built for herself. She should have noted the familiarity of the symbols Madame Morrible was writing over and over again. Mostly, she should have recognised the quiet mumbles as those from the nightmares that still plagued her sleep.
If she’d paid more attention, perhaps she wouldn’t have ended up in this situation.

Or, Glinda trying to convince herself everything is fine post Defying Gravity, only to be learn that she really should've known better.

Summary
Staring out across the vast expanse of the room, she can almost fool her mind into believing that she can see Elphie waiting for her at the end of the aisle. (Her smile for just a moment grows genuine.)
Glinda shakes her head trying to dislodge the foolish idea. When that doesn’t do the trick she pinches at the skin of her finger to pull herself back to the present. Elphaba had refused to join her. Again. She needs to put this childish desire to rest, to lock away her heart. Glinda is to be wed to Fiyero and she couldn’t be happier. (So what if her eyes continuously drift towards his wedding suit with its positively emerald shade. The same color as her skin. Nobody need ever know about that.)

“I’ve already made my decision,” Mother Miranda declared with authority, her golden eyes now locked on Heisenberg before slowly shifting toward Lysandra. “As punishment for your negligence, Heisenberg, we will be claiming your lovely engineer. For an indefinite period.” She smiled, cold, taunting. “Lucky for us, because she’s perfect to be our new… pet.”
“No!” Heisenberg protested immediately, rage and guilt etched across his face.
“Our new wha—?” Lysandra hissed involuntarily, the result of a sudden, firm pressure on her jaw. Her face was yanked upward, pulled toward glowing golden eyes.
“Sleep,” Lady Dimitrescu commanded, her pupils dilating.
Lysandra felt the command, an invisible tug in her mind. She tried to resist it, and even managed to break free from the grip and stumble a few steps back, but collided into another body.
“Don’t fight it. You’re not going to fall...” Lady Beneviento’s hoarse voice whispered in her ear. Arms wrapped around her waist, firm enough to hold her, soft enough to make her aware of just how weak she was becoming.
Lysandra fought against the drowsiness crawling over her, but her muscles wouldn’t respond. Her body gave in, heavy, like it had been drained.

Glinda wasn’t really sure what made her do it. All she knew was that she hung up the phone to silence her mother’s screams, took a right at an intersection where she normally turned left, and found herself in front of a tattoo shop.
The sign read “Oz’s Oddities” in that classic font that every tattoo studio seemed to use. A bit cliche, but it had caught her eye. She’d never gotten a tattoo before. The pain had been a slight deterrent, but more than anything it was the threat of being cut off from her parents’ money if she ever came home with anything more than simple earlobe piercings.But now she was cut off. Her ex was dragging her name through the mud to all their friends, she’d graduated college, and found herself alone with no job, a lease ending in two weeks, and no more allowance.
What else did she have to lose?
