Summary
Stiles is leaving a local store and he notices a toddler wandering the parking lot by himself. worried for the childs safety he rushes to him to discover the child had wandered away from his mother’s mini van. Doors are wide open. Upon closer inspection looks like there are 2 more kids in the car crying because the mother is laying face down in the back. Like she passed out after putting 2 of the 3 kids in the car. Frantic he calls his father while checking to see if the mother is breathing.The mother is Laura Hale. No Hale fire, Derek is still weary with people as Kate attempted to set the fire but was thwarted. Stiles meets Derek for the first time when he’s called to the hospital for Laura and the children.

“Who needed you?” Stiles asked, uncapping his water.
“Hm?” Cole had been looking out at something in the field, and he focussed back on Stiles then. “What?”
“You said it comes about when someone needs us. Who needed you?”
He probably shouldn’t have asked, because Cole looked sad all of a sudden. Like he hadn’t thought about becoming a Sorcerer in a long time. Stiles could see that being what he was had cost him greatly, and he couldn’t help but wonder if he was going to run into the same problem.
“A friend,” Cole said quietly. “Someone who was very dear to me. But I didn’t get there fast enough.”
Stiles paused in recapping his water, pressing his lips together. “What happened?”
“I waited too long to help them.”

Summary
Stiles works alone to figure out how to kill the undead terrorizing Beacon Hills - not because he wants to, but because the pack seems to think he doesn't need anyone's help. After a thankless job-well-done and injuries that would take weeks to heal, Stiles finally lets the pack know how he feels about how they treat him. Peter is there to mend him, offer some words of wisdom, and when Stiles admits he's tired of the pack and wants to leave, Peter proposes a shift in the pack dynamic.
