Summary
Grace and Rocky are one year away from Erid when an unidentified object slams into the Hail Mary. It's an object that shouldn't exist in a place that shouldn't hold problems.
Inside is a man that definitely shouldn't exist, too.
After a violent first meeting, Grace, Rocky, and their newfound passenger - Simon - are forced to survive the remainder of the trip to Erid together: low on supplies, stranded in deep space, and each carrying traumas from their difficult journeys.
Yet somehow, against all odds, they begin to build a life together aboard the ship.

Summary
The humans threw Grace away. Grace, who worked so hard to save them, who came back for Rocky when he realized the taomoeba would eat through Rocky's ship. Grace, who gave up his chance to go home to save Erid too.
And then Rocky finds out exactly how Grace ended up in space.
They're not giving him back now. Grace will always have a place on Erid where he's beloved and cherished the way he should be, even if it takes Grace a while to believe he's worth that. Rocky may or may not have plans to fix up the Hail Mary for the trip back anyways- there were a few things they wanted to say directly to Stratt's face.

They were villains. They were fuck ups. They each had a giant chip on their shoulders that barely let them stand next to each other on a good day. As soon as his voice first came on the group call, they had to give him shit. If they didn’t start harassing him, the Blonde Boss Lady would have benched them thinking they were being mind controlled.
Every handler thought they could “handle” the Phoenix team. Tame them, make them palatable, water them down. Turn them good. So they didn’t like Robert.
But they did like his voice.
