Summary
Pikachu made the absolute dumbest, stupidest mistake of his life. Now he traded his freedom, for a small ball prsion and is stuck with a trainer who doesn't know what 9 times 5 is without a 5 minute thinking session.
Also why the hell is this kid so damn accident prone, and why the hell is team rocket after them, and just how many crazy adventures can one rodent take before he goes mad.
Still the kid is still a kid so Pikachu guesses its his job to protect him, at least until the pokemon gets a chance to escape while the kid is for sure safe.
......
Basically I have seen so many stories of ash as a pokemon, or he can understand pokemon, or pokemon are the most prominent side characters. And even ones where it is fully a pokemon poverty but those are usually one shots.
So how about a long story from mostly Pikachu's perspective. Of course with a few twist and turns her and there.

He'll have to pick a team, and indicatively, one of the applicants only has one HP. And he blows up Gaster's office during their "interview."
May or may not contain: tea-drinking, depression, cats, anxiety, swearing, annoying dogs, death and near-death, gravity related injuries, conflicted Asgore, a non-Gaster Royal Scientist, crumbs of Toaster, humans, platonic Sanster, honorary science daughter Alphys, PICK UP YOUR SOCK SANS, unfriendly eldritch critters that don't like the monsters living in their caves, snarky fire elementals, monster souls and their curious properties, odd skeleton behaviors, magic malfunctions, and spatio-temporal displacement.

"Gojo-san," Nanami said, slowly. He was dripping whipped cream all over the floor, whisk slack in his hand. He thought about putting both the whisk and the bowl he was using down on the counter where they'd be safe, but didn't want to be defenseless. Gojo took enough liberties as it was, and maybe the threat of getting hit over the head with a whisk would keep him from crowding Nanami any closer against his refrigerator. "What is this?"
"This is Itadori Yuuji!" Gojo chirped, nudging the boy forward. The kid, despite the late hour and despite the fact that Gojo had teleported him from what Nanami assumed was the far end of Tokyo into the middle of Nanami's kitchen, beamed up at Nanami. Nanami was struck by the urge to put on a pair of sunglasses indoors. "Your newest employee!"
"My what," said Nanami, flatly.
(Or, Nanami realizes that he had more options in life than "cog in a corporate machine" and "cog in a grinding, ceaseless war" and opens a bakery. Gojo won't leave him alone. Between them -- and all of the teenagers Gojo keeps dropping off on Nanami's doorstep -- they accidentally revolutionize jujutsu society.)
