He'd glanced over to look at Shane and he had felt so much love and admiration towards his boyfriend at that moment. It had taken him a beat or two to replace it with a look of indifference.
Or, Ilya accidentally outs his and Shane's relationship to their teams after he kicks Comeau's ass on the ice because he insults Shane. Both men spend a few days together in domestic bliss while they figure out how to navigate the situation. Things escalate quickly. But like... In a loving way.

Any other day, Ilya might have been happy to play along.
But, in perfect dramatic irony, it had not happened any other day. It had happened today. And, cherry on top, of course the rookie had to walk in when Shane was already freaking out about Ilya saying his name.
