Summary
“Leave all the marks you want,” Aether gasped, breathless, as Xiao latched onto a spot and sucked. His grip on Aether’s thighs tightened slightly too but it was almost like he was afraid to tighten it further. “You can hold me tighter, I don’t mind if you leave bruises. Better yet if they’re in the shape of your hand.”

Summary
Xiao let out a long, shuddering breath, his throat working as he fought for composure. "You are so... impossibly stubborn. To find 'love' in a massacre... only a traveler from another star would be so naive."
"Maybe," Aether said with a small, sad smile. "But I saw you on that cliffside, too. Looking out at Liyue. You stay for them, don't you? To make sure what they fought for doesn't disappear?"
When Aether calls for help in battle, Xiao answers without hesitation--and takes a devastating blow in his stead. Trapped in a sealed cave with dwindling supplies and serious injuries, two people (who are very bad at admitting things) find that they have nowhere left to hide.

Summary
The river takes Aether without warning.
Cold, fast, and merciless, it drags him under before he can think, before he can breathe, before he can do anything but panic. The current steals his strength, the water his air, until there’s only his burning lungs and the desperate certainty that he isn’t going to make it back to the surface.
He uses his last breath to call out for help.
