Leo gets freaky space ‘cancer’ from the prison dimension

Dealing with (aka: avoiding entirely) the trauma from all his interactions with Prime in the Prison Dimension is one thing. Yes, one thing he relatively sucks at but who’s gonna lay into him for that? But adding the stress of having a weird ass deadly illness on top of that, along with hiding it from his family, and it seems like the universe DOES want him dead!
Oh well, it’s not like this could turn out horrible right? He just has to find the cure, make it, and completely treat the illness before his brothers get too suspicious! Also maybe find out what it’s called, the place of origin, maybe find a list of all the symptoms, find out how to manage living with it in case there’s no cure, any potential after affects it has if it IS curable, and a couple bajillion other things that could be handy to know!
How hard could that be?

Summary
Burdens are hard carry. What would you do if not only were you tasked with protecting your family, but also the rest of the world? Could you cope with that?
Leo has his own ways. They may not be "healthy" per se, but they keep him grounded enough to put a smile on his face and pretend that he has his shit together. He doesn't, though. Not on the inside. His mind is a dumpster fire, begging to be extinguished. But he can't share, or he risks burning the ones he loves in the process. Leo would sooner die by the blade of his own sword than risk the safety of his family.

There was water on Donatello’s face.
No, not water. Tears. Composed of water, yes, but also sodium and potassium and lysozyme and lipids. Tears existed to protect the eyes. There was nothing in this moment that Donnie's eyes needed protecting from, but still his vision blurred, obscuring his view of the explosion in the sky and the space where his brother– his twin– used to be.
Oh. Maybe that was what the tears were protecting him from; the reality in which he didn't have a twin.
But he didn't need protecting. He needed his twin back.
OR
Mikey's portal didn't work. Leo is left stranded, abandoned, alone, in the prison dimension. And Donatello, alone on Staten Island without the other half of his soul, decides to do whatever it takes to bring Leo back. Even if that "whatever it takes" involves running away, making a portal, going to the Prison Dimension alone, and dragging Leo out himself.

Jules accidentally falls into the sewers while fleeing armed men.
Leonardo accidentally lets a stranger become the center of his universe.
Neither of them are handling it particularly well.

Leo is really sick for an unknown reason and only wants Donnie to hold him but Donnie is trying to figure out what’s wrong with Leo in the first place. Unfortunately as time progresses Leo gets worse until he eventually needs a ventilator to breath and IVs because he cannot keep anything down, because of this he eventually slips into a coma. It’s a race against time for Donnie because Leo’s heart rate spikes whenever Donnie leaves but he needs to figure out how to help Leo before it is too late.
