TL;DR hajime catches the despair disease instead of nagito (a totally original and definitely not over done idea)

“You’re sure as hell not alright. We aren’t stupid, Sonia. Just fuckin’ talk about it, it’ll help.” Fuyuhiko puffs his cheeks a bit and then mutters, “Thought we were trying to get rid of our despair.”
---------------------After the events of Goodbye Despair, the survivors awaken on the real Jabberwock Island and are tasked with not only their recovery from the program's effects, but the toll of the havoc that their time as Remnants wreaked on their bodies. As time passes and their comatose friend's own awakenings looks ever clearer on the horizon, it only becomes more and more obvious how much the group has been avoiding amidst their recovery. When even the most put together among them begins to crack at the edges, they are each forced to face the fact; the only way to keep their despair at bay, is together.
With the weight of the world heavy on all of their shoulders, how will they navigate helping both themselves and eachother at the same time?

Summary
Hajime Hinata, whose consciousness is not stable or whole enough to support itself after the Neo World Program, continues to take a backseat in his own body.
Kamukura experiences some issues that come with having not enough control over its own body.
Class 77-b copes with both the despair of their own actions and not having either of the people that brought them together as a group with them anymore. They begin to heal themselves in the hopes that they can help the one that can come back to them, that they need to come back to them to be that steadying, solid presence.
If he chooses to do so, of course.
The thing in his place is steadfast, not quite what they are looking for when they scan red eyes and blank features, but will suffice for now.

Summary
The first thought he had when he awoke was—
…How boring.
A rather out of place thought considering what followed next was—
Fuck.
(Which, he considered, was a much more adequate response.)
That was the only conscious thought he had before every other sense was promptly deluged by an overwhelming heat.
Really, Hajime found that he had started getting a tad bit more used to life on the island (at least, as used as you can get when you're forced into a killing game by a sadistic, animatronic bear) so he would've preferred to wake up the same as he usually did: grumbling and gaining consciousness upon hearing that wretched morning announcement. He also would've preferred to not wake up absolutely drenched in sweat.
However, he was clearly not that fortunate.
OR an AU where Hajime gets the Despair Disease instead of Nagito and suffers the ensuing consequences (cue the hurt/comfort).

Summary
Hajime Hinata has spent the months since the Neo World Program perfecting the art of avoiding Nagito Komaeda. After all, it’s easier to hide behind his title as the Head of the 4th Branch than confront whatever is between them.
But when the Future Foundation sends them into a dead quarantine zone to dismantle a volatile, Remnant-built anomaly, avoiding each other is no longer an option. Forced to navigate a localized apocalypse together with nothing but Nagito's chaotic luck as a shield, all of Hajime's careful walls begin to violently crack.
Or: Hajime is convinced he can keep up his professional, distant facade forever. The universe and Nagito's luck has other plans.
