Alhaitham was watching him with a strange expression. Kaveh finally mustered up the strength to meet his eyes, and his gaze was so gentle that the architect didn’t know how to react. “And then you came home and couldn’t find me, so you thought … I died?” He surmised with a slight smile, but he didn’t seem to be making fun of Kaveh.
Kaveh still huffed, folding his arms over his chest. “It sounds ridiculous when you put it like that, I know. It was just a lot to process; my emotions were all over the place after that meeting.” He knew that Alhaitham would lecture him for becoming too close to his projects again. He braced himself for the impact, but it never came.
Or, Kaveh takes a commission for a woman whose husband suddenly died, and then panics when he returns home to find Alhaitham's keys on the hook but no sign of the scribe.

Summary
The morning begins in fragments, but it settles into something familiar: lists, errands, and quiet routines that Kaveh insists on perfecting, and Alhaitham adjusts without comment. It should be simple, yet unsurprisingly, it is not.
At the Grand Bazaar, they fall into a rhythm they both pretend is practical. Splitting tasks, rejoining without asking, noticing more than they should. Small things linger longer than they used to. A touch that does not get explained. A glance that does not get corrected. By the time the day ends, nothing has been said outright. Nothing has changed in a way that can be named, but something has shifted anyway.

Summary
Visual language and spoken language don’t always intersect, but there are a few rare cases in which they do; one of those rare cases being in the art of lip reading.
Kaveh has never been particularly proficient at lip reading—and why would he? He spends much of his life devoted to technology and numbers, he considers the fact that he understands more than a handful of languages a semi-impressive feat on its own. His partner on the other hand is much, much more proficient than he ever could be.
But there is a phrase which Kaveh recognises and can read with ease. And it is a phrase he never gets tired of feeling, hearing and seeing.
