    Summary

In life as in music and poetry, we all search for our natural rhythm. The cadence that carries us through joy and struggle alike.

In “Another Me”, Kris's left hand stops responding to their will. Their musical world collapses—and so do they. As anxiety, isolation, and an increasing sense of doom blur the line between reality and nightmare, a disturbing voice wearing their own face whispers that they don't deserve their place in their program or in this world.

"You, Us" shifts perspective to Ralsei, who finds himself navigating unfamiliar emotional territory in the wake of crisis. As he and Kris fumble through the realities of the world around them, and tentative domestic dreams, deeper questions emerge for him: Can relationships survive the kind of brutal honesty that breakdown demands? Can love survive after being left out in the cold for so long? And what happens to your sense of self when you don’t live for yourself, but for someone else?

Structured as musical compositions (AM) and poetry (YU) rather than traditional chapters, this series asks whether we can create something meaningful from the hardest moments in our lives.

    “S'not your fault that—”

“—I hurt you,” Susie finished. She chewed on the concept, the edges of her voice frantic, her throat thick. “Because you deserved it.”

“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”

Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”

Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.

    Summary

Leon has become a master of the slow fade, a ghost haunting his own life until there’s nothing left but the sharp scent of whiskey and the hollow echoes of a man who stopped caring months ago. He exists in the spaces between memories he'd rather forget, pulling the shadows around him like a second skin.

Chris is the only one who refuses to let him vanish. Armed with a stubborn, quiet persistence and a refusal to look away, he remains the sole anchor in Leon’s drifting world. It’s a heavy, wordless vigil, a tug-of-war between Leon’s desperate need to isolate and Chris’s terrifyingly steady presence. In the suffocating stillness of what remains, they are forced to navigate the blurred lines of a bond that is as much a lifeline as it is a burden.

A study of the fine line between saving a man and breaking him further, navigating an intimacy neither was ever trained to handle.

“Oh, I’m so sick of you both,” Claire says, apropos of nothing.

Chris has to laugh, because if he doesn’t, he’ll explode. “Yeah,” he agrees, “I am too.”

It shouldn’t make any sense. It’s just him and Claire, sitting on his fire escape, her nose scrunched at him while he exhales smoke into her space. They had been silent up until she spoke, but he knows. “Can’t you just talk to him?” She pleads, pushing the hand holding his cigarette away from herself. She quit years ago. Chris still allows himself this one vice.

He thinks about it. He could. It isn’t like it’s never occurred to him. But he replies, “Nah. We’re not good together.”

Well. Maybe he allows himself more than one vice.
