Summary
27-year-old Cassandra Argos is a general, a veteran, and a Junic Child of a well-respected family. Due to the largely invisible nature of Junic Children and her fluency in two languages, she's been enlisted to help spy on the rebellion. Everything she's been taught about the delicate position she's lived in for the last fourteen years since being taken in by the Argos family is brought into question when she meets the hard-headed leader of the local sect of the rebellion.
Arken isn't someone who likes sharing her life or story. All she needs you to know is the crown is corrupt and she plans to gather information from the inside. Her skills aren't something it's possible to doubt, even if she lacks finesse. She's got no time to be distracted by the charming new member of the rebellion, or her bold offer to train Arken to be a "proper knight."
The pair clash constantly, a habit that becomes less thrilling when Arken finally sees through the thin disguise Cassie built, and their relationship changes from a question of respect and trust to one of mutually assured destruction.
Under the weight of a crumbling country and questions about trusting your leaders, can they learn to work together?
