Shen Jiu growled, wrenching out of Qiu Jianluo’s grip to hurl an ink stone at him. He missed.
Shen Jiu saw the change in Qiu Jianluo’s face instantly, the man’s hand rising up and blocking out the glow of candlelight. His towering shadow was Qiong Qi given flesh.
Shen Jiu’s body froze instinctively as he readied himself for a blow.
But it never came, because when Shen Jiu managed to look up, all he could see was a man’s broad back swathed in black robes, his grip tight around Qiu Jianluo’s wrist.
“Qiu-gongzi, what could ever make you think that a charlatan like me wouldn’t want this boy as his disciple?”

Summary
Shen Yuan transmigrates into a young Qiu Haitang. He knows who he is but sees how Qiu Jianluo really is. He goes straight to trying to kill him. The murder attempts cause a young Liu Qingge to be Qiu Jianluo’s bodyguard. When Qiu Jianluo finally dies, Shen Yuan goes on the run with his Xiao Jiu.
Xiao Jiu is not handling the sudden change well but he is doing the best he can.

Summary
Shen Jiu turned his eyes back to the young cultivator, who had no choice but to nod and bow gratefully in the face of offending his master’s clients.
How fortuitous. The blame had been claimed so thoroughly by Haitang, Qiu Jianluo was blazing full steam ahead on the topic of the manor’s cleansing. The master cultivator himself couldn’t even apologise for his disciple, for fear of offending the Qiu’s further, and all ‘A-Yuan’ had to do now was stand there and wring his hands.
Shen Jiu stared at the other boy. Was it on purpose?
If so, how kind.

From a young age, Shen Jiu knows he is not a good person. He does, however, know who is, and will do everything in his power to protect him.
