‘For my money, that’s your girl’. He starts a little as he registers Dana standing beside him, in the same silver dress she always wears to these things (she says it’s comfortable and looks good, and she just slightly changes her hair and accessories each time). She’s holding two drinks, and hands him one.
‘What?’ He forgets about his ‘no more drinking till after the speech’ plan and takes a sip.
‘You wanted to know why our prodigal son changed his mind, there’s your answer right there’ says Dana, wryly. ‘Look at him. She’s got him wrapped around her little finger’.
Langdon refuses to go the fundraiser. Until Mel asks him to. Robby had no idea something was brewing between them. Until Dana pointed it out.

He asked Mel about it once, during a period of time where his dad increased his attendance at NA meetings.
“Your dad doesn't feel like he deserves the good things he has,” Mel told him simply, “he feels like he has to earn us, and that gets him into trouble when he starts to push his limits.”
Tanner can understand that. Hell- he can often feel the same impulse in him, creeping in on the edge of his vision when Emily threads her hand through his hair. “Love you, Tan,” She says, and he’ll fight the urge to scream, to tell her he can't possibly deserve her.
